Comfort
why do we often draw comfort –
from those who are not that close
how we are touched,
by those we have never met
their compliments,
the hardest to forget
how come they pay the emotional rent
when there is a heart to let
strangers welcoming you home
people you do not really know
telling you, that you are not alone
helping you up onto the platform
to touch the throne
i seem to draw comfort from those
but i should not be looking
only at those close
i do not think i am taken for granted
but a few people help to sail the boat
and it is true to say the strongest push –
is not always from those who i feel are close
