Cotton Wool
where did it go wrong
on what part of the road
did the wheel fall off the wagon
and, without a husband there
to love and protect
you would have never carried on
you would have been a mess
you are cocooned in a world
where you do not do anything
it is cotton wool all around
there, to protect you from falls
and to avoid truthful sounds
where did it go wrong
when did bitterness –
finally seep into the bones
and happiness depart –
to leave you feeling so alone
nervous breakdowns
flirting with your mental health
you know one day they will settle down
where did it go wrong
