Citizen – Written Friday 24th May 2013 (Aged 38)

Citizen

no union jack, no flags
no agenda
no cause
we have been misinformed
but i am not arrogant –
thinking i am a right thinking citizen
but even i can see –
there is more to this
because our enemies are constructed –
as if we need telling
the media reports –
and guides us through the moral maze
it tells us who to like and who to hate
it guides our gaze
i know that all life lost
in such tragic ways is a loss
all of it has pain
and an unthinkable cost
so be careful how you raise your flag
careful how you pack your bag
we are part of the system
oil or cog
do not let your opinions be imported
do not speak when blinded by thick fog
