Heavy Hand

let’s move on –
let’s get back to a way
that came without a heavy hand
youth was a concept –
they may as well labelled modern art
few of us understood it
we only pretended to take part
let’s change the weather
let’s change our clothes
but keep our views and principles too
you keep me –
and i want to keep you
any mental health –
has only ever been like the weather
and thunder and lightning
the sun and the rain –
which rolls across the sky
it is hard not to le and to confess
when youth was no more than a pub quiz
with a series of questions –
with far too many answers
let’s move on
