The Joke
i read that you were looking for answers
when i was you age,
i was too, then i found out life was a joke
not some deep mysterious clue
your sense of humour is tightly bound
and you try to be new age –
physic, some kind of sage
and as you desperately look around
rattling everyone’s cage
you search and dissect folk
looking for this deeper meaning
have you considered life might just be a joke
some sick, black humoured joke
but still a joke nonetheless
i read that you were looking for answers
you should be looking for a sense of humour
and dampen that fire of an ego
because you’re not looking for everybody else
you want lofty quasi reasons
that justify yourself
that gave you a reason to elope
i hope you find your humour first
it will help you discover that life is a joke
