A Certain Generation

it’s about who they choose
domineering men,
of a certain generation
fed a diet of those values
never be seen and never be heard
there are two sides to a coin
at least to every story
now you’ve been left looking for a join
in a wound that looks so gory
it’s about these women
and the type of men they choose
we share similar problems
because he attracted similar women
women who at best
only ended up been submissive
and again,
the story was repeated time and time again
you cannot starve children –
of love, of confidence and feeling wanted
and expect them to grow up –
absolutely confident and absolutely free
it’s about the men they choose
and looking back on the past
which should now be closed
but it’s about the men that they chose
