Family
of course we could just go on pretending
and, as i understand it
this is something families are prone to do
they collectively lift up the rug
and just sweep it underneath
never having had family in the accepted sense
this appears, to my untrained eye
complete nonsense
of course we could just go on pretending
you there, with your disrespectful views
me, with my frustrations
because in the end, we all loose
you pretend that you do not care
you turn up to family events with silence and a stare
not a thing is discussed and it’s there for years
this sort of silence, this sort of pretence
it’s the chain that i one day hope to break
because for me, i could not go on pretending
that would be too much, something i would hate
