Singles – Written Thursday 5th September 1996 (Aged 21)

Singles

singles hand around –
wanting to be doubles
or so it seems
but sometimes it just means more trouble
singles do not hold hands
and they are not always that lonely
in fact, they can really understand
but singles can be alone
even in some romantic partnership
singles can romanticise –
about the way it is
and i have never had a partner
but they’ve often had me
often like some predator just stalking
i have walked out of a relationship
and yet, I have barely been walking
in fact, it’s always more of a crawl
singles are not the lame in society
according to society which is often cruel
on your own, but never alone
singles are true
