Cut Me Off at The Root – Written Friday 4th July 2008 (Aged 33)

Cut Me Off at The Root

i am tired
but i get ready,
and i ride another wave of change
i smile at a joke i heard
i cannot complain
someone cut me off at the root
but i had always been a target
and i was just waiting for them to shoot
i am just so tired

i am tired
but i laughed when they rung me up
and we laughed together
we laughed at all the silly things we say
we speculated on the weather
and booked our trip away
then someone lied to me
and proved to me that once again i was right
i was right to be cautious with my trust
but i am so tired
