Hold Up Your Hand
i am not graced –
with some kind of acknowledgement
i remain cold
and i remain indifferent
shape shifting in the sand
playing snakes and ladders
with my hands
i just cannot forgive
and i wish i could
but when you are chased through the forest
it’s then that you cannot see the wood
and you cannot hold up your hand
so wipe your name from the board
and say,
i do not understand
this is a time and this is a place
a place where you know the danger
and you paint a smile upon your face
i cannot forgive
without understanding
and i cannot survive another crash landing
so, I cannot forgive
