Have I Told You

have i told you that i am not autistic?
and neither is our father
hard for you to accept,
but true
autism does not make bad fathers
it does not cause them them to leave
it not cause families to lie
no matter what you need to believe
have i told you that i am not autistic
and not matter how painful it is
no matter how much you hurt
there is no simple reason –
to explain why he decided to leave
and though a kind of hate and demonising –
will work
in the end, it doesn’t really resolve your hurt
have i told you that i am not autistic
perhaps i did,
before you decided who i was and the truth hid
