A Friend of Mine
a friend of mine –
they drank too much on saturday night
but in the melee of life –
it’s an occasional weapon in the fight
a friend of mine –
smiled at me
and for a second we travelled back in time
back to a place with ladders to climb
and with ties to bind
a friend of mine –
laughed at another persons diagnosis
they then asked about their happiness
and on that,
i could not give a solid prognosis
a friend of mine –
came from a faraway place
they looked at me, they looked slightly lost
change the view on my face
and never count the cost
