I Thought I Would Cope

i thought i would cope
i should have had a drink
glad i did not smoke
swallowed my past
almost made me choke
just me and dreams
one day we will elope
that i am so sure of
but not so sure we will float
i thought i would be well
it was good on day one
but who can tell,
from one so young
it had me round the throat
it had me inside the bailey
it swam across my moat
