I Think About Him
i think about him,
i think about him when i am handling things –
that he has done
or more likely should have done
it think about him,
when others talk about about being young
there is a knot in my stomach
i know that it cannot be undone
there’s is a race with an emotional prize
a race i know i just cannot run
i think about him,
and my hands fumble
as i find myself going back to the bin
searching for what he threw away
but i am too war weary
and i know it cannot be saved
so think about him
and i find myself staying by a grave
where childhood hope and belief is buried
i think about him,
more than i care to admit
