Your Paint Was Peeling
you paint was peeling
and you plaster,
it has become damp
your floorboards rotten
all the glorious childhood façades
jus forgotten,
your roof has lost quite a few slates
the kitchen dresser,
full of chipped platers
your carpets had become stained
and the wood on your window frames
had all but rotted
a monument to glory
that had packed up and left
an untold magnificent story
that ended with the death of self respect
your paint was peeling
the loft just unsafe,
the hems so frayed on the drapes
your paint was peeling
with colours that had begun to ache
