Notes To Self

notes to self
learn to build better shelves
do not let the wax –
cascade down
be the person –
with a meaningful frown
notes to self
be better than the tangled past
where aggressive ivy
made my walls fall apart
as if our favourite baker
fails to make a bakewell tart
notes to self
wander in the wind shaped crevices
where devices of leisure
help you spread your solid wings
where hungry buskers learn to sing
where the present has a curious ring
notes to self
feel better about your self
learn to build a better shelf
be kinder to your mental health
