Tub of Long Lasting Mirth – Written Tuesday 31st October 2023 (Aged 48)

Tub of Long Lasting Mirth

why did i look up to these people
i must have thought…
no,
i admit it,
i did think they were unobtainable
and that must reflect upon my self worth
maybe my self worth –
was sold to the lowest bidder –
shortly after my birth
maybe all my self esteem –
was exchanged for a tub of long lasting mirth
but then,
my ego,
it comes with a particularly large tin
so,
why did i look up to these people
and to their obvious damage,
religiously cling
maybe it is a question that at the time –
i should have been keen to ask
maybe distraction was my bone of contention
and boredom was too shy to pass
now,
some of these people,
they seem to live exhalated lives
like bees in a fully working hive
i wonder if they have a seashell existence
and i wonder what they bury deep inside
