Shades of Memory
Was it me, or was it you?
I can’t remember.
And what was it,
That thing you used to do?
But, back then, I never really knew.
Did you want me,
To just be part of you?
And did I want you to be part of me?
In fact, did we ever know
What we really wanted to be?
But now, all these years later,
Everything has changed.
Things have come,
And then they have gone,
Letting in shade, letting in light.
Did you want me to be yours,
Or maybe,
You just wanted to be mine?
All I know is that you left,
Walked through the kitchen door,
And never looked back.
But there I was,
So lost on my never-ending tracks.
