Happy Elephants
bin bags flutter in my breeze—
happy elephants pull me to my knees.
circus acts,
with circus facts,
they leave me with a careful wheeze.
as my words dance and tease.
maybe i should have a thought,
one that’s not caught in a trapeze.
but then,
i turn around—
and the headlights of my past shine,
the type of headlights –
with traditional halogen bulbs,
they blink at me –
from a passing place on memory lane.
who i am, caught in ego’s double glazing,
the type where reflections look amazing.
but who i am,
as i face such tremendous breeze,
and those crazy elephants,
they quickly bring me to my knees.
