Temporary Guests In a Club
there is a corporate game—
post the right things,
say the right things,
but chiefly, never challenge.
compassion,
consideration,
i would live for those elements
in any kind of system.
and i would live in a world
where people actually take time to listen,
instead of a world
where we are treated like failing children.
because this,
this is not where we get our ‘kicks’,
caught in an endless
disappearing parent relationship.
and i am sorry,
that suddenly,
i am not such a wild craving.
of course, when i filled a handy gap,
then of course, i was amazing.
but now, they turn off the tap,
and my glamour, like my reputation,
is rapidly fading.
compassion,
consideration,
i would live for that,
but in this world—
we are just pieces on a board,
temporary guests in a club,
treated unfairly,
and made to feel that we are never enough.
that is how we are managed,
but it leaves people scattered,
traumatised, and damaged.
