Like Them
I wish I was like them.
Their smile may as well be tattooed on.
Yet mine—
it rises and falls, just like a sun.
I wish I was like them.
Because people like them—
they’re compliant.
No—intelligently defiant.
I wish I was like them.
They carefully look behind
with a nervous glance,
and they stuff their personality disorders
into a cracked glass vase.
I wish I was like them.
They manage to divert attention
that looms above their head.
Their bipolar banter
never seems that well said.
I wish I was like them.
They manage to put their gaps and holes
into worldly success,
never score own goals,
and never seem to overtly display
their inner mess.
Really, really honestly—
I wish I was like them.
They sit at home with perfection to bake,
dividing up slices
of aromatic sponge cake.
Really, really—
I wish I was like them,
with their picture-perfect coloured walls.
But wait a moment…
Who wants to be led by these fools?
