Chorus
Where do I belong?
It’s a complicated song,
although it has
verse and chorus.
I think I’m almost there,
into places
which make
a sort of sense.
This life,
with its patches,
and places
which become lost.
My head spins
in a world
that we created,
although it’s hard to say
how long
any of us
stay elated.
I’m almost there,
into places
that find you.
And I remember
that I have to be
the person,
and I have to be
the one
that holds
all these clues.
After all,
this life,
with its lost days,
its lost names,
lost people,
and lost times,
all of it
swims around
my head,
like something
which feels
barely remembered,
but has a taste
which seems
at times, ‘nice’ but unrefined
And I know,
memories
will be altered,
but you will be here,
and we will collect
our finds,
and we will be okay.
But where do I belong?
And where do
any of us belong?
In a life
which is
a complicated song,
one which surrounds us,
along with its verses,
and its often
strange chorus.
