The Actual Question
People can be busy
with themselves.
After all,
we live in that kind of world.
One not of reflection,
but one
where the inward gaze
is a tattooed craze.
And it’s not about
being alone
or happiness,
neither of which
point to true worth
or give
a solid direction.
And I just delve
into my mind
and analyse
everything
that’s connected.
And I am not sad,
and nor am I dejected,
it’s just —
I am concerned.
And it is that,
the question,
the actual question,
the lifelong task,
the thing that came along
because, all along,
all along,
I should have asked.
