Diesel Trains
Back on the diesel train,
coal-powered,
but once shot-fired.
The telling initials on my name
Back on the diesel train,
electrification is a situation
I once found
in birthday dreams.
Get back to a place
where photographs
were in their own
time and space.
I loved you,
love you, love you,
but you let me go
when the gown
came to town.
When your fringe invaded
your frown.
Back on the diesel train,
platforms to broach.
As we all cling onto the seats
and look for the perfect coach
It can no longer
be coal-powered,
or not even we can –
cling to the steam.
We are back
on diesel trains,
I have that kind of feeling
