No Time To Waste
No time to waste,
there is hate.
It expands like that foam
that people use
just to fill a space.
I see your political views,
and I see they are
strategic lace.
But it yellows with age
like the truth
upon your face.
No time to waste.
I see you hold
a diamond-encrusted nail file,
I see that,
you shave down your hate,
and that you cocoon
at the bottom of the pile.
You dream of mosaic floors,
but you are caught,
slaughtered
in cheap tiles.
No time to waste.
There is hate.
More like net curtains,
that yellow
with smoke and age.
Change punches down hard,
and it is spilled deep
on your white past.
There is no time to waste,
and there is no time
that truly lasts.
