Longer, Harder, Softer
I loved you —
longer, harder, softer,
more…
more than anyone.
In and out of my life,
yet it is always something
I seem to have to hide.
As if
kisses were just mist,
and togetherness
something of a myth.
And we…
as in us
(and there was an us)
never did exist.
And you have never shown
any recognition
for us, or my feelings, or my love.
For all these years
I have known you,
but I have never known how you feel,
or even felt.
To me, with you,
there was always something
that could never melt.
And now —
now you are pissed with me…
as if
you have any right.
Me, me far from perfect,
but I have been
so many of your lights.
I loved you once —
longer, harder, softer,
more tender, more passionate, more genuine
than so many other people.
Me, just me,
yet I have nothing from it.
And how sad is that.
