we are not embedded –
in nurturing love
that would furnish us,
with coping mechanisms
and not anxious touch

when i was younger
i feared the unknown
and felt achieving acceptability
would show how i had grown

it learned power and wealth –
can define what is true
the rich, wealthy, powerful elite
got good at smiling
whilst revelling in deceit

love,
is the laps we have completed

chapters capture me
they fracture and splinter
they deliver yards
of summer and winter

i am not
that,
slightly crazed
thirty something
contemplating addictive addiction

something in the way
you listen and interact
the way you shoulder others
or when needed, head back

and here it comes
a generation of pigeon chested fools
are about to find out
