I Left Home – Written Sunday 30th September 2001 (Aged 26)

I Left Home

i left home,
left my childhood
got taken out with the rubbish
got taken away
i search the council rubbish tip
but the birds had come to stay

i left home,
i called my childhood
but there was no dialling tone
and my favourite sweetheart
was not at home

i left home,
i caught the bus
and made my way into town
i left my childhood,
waiting at the bus stop
it did not follow me
but you know…
it leaves me free
