I Got Your Joke

i miss our friendship
now you –
are in another part of the world
we have always –
felt the same about the world
that we live in
laughed at the same things
tried to make sense of it
even shared similar dreams
i got your joke –
the first time I met you
and I have never stepped laughing
life for us seems to pass quickly
some things are ever lasting
i miss our friendship
with you –
sitting down and holding a mirror
up to a world –
that too often poorly reflects
always my deepest thoughts
and my absolute respect
