relationships
come with a certain amount of fuel
sometimes it’s enough –
to blast you into space
sometimes it never leaves the ground
sometimes it is an endless orbit
and you just go round and round
relationships
sometimes have so much fuel
that they never run out
even if we only got halfway
that is still far
some would we have failed
i say that we still saw the stars
relationships
so many stay after the fuel has run out
long after the rocket was separated
and there are so many cracks to mend
we came back down still intact –
and still able to be friends
and we both know that in this world
there is far too much pretend
