My Beautiful Girl
you are and always be be,
my my girl
i know that statement is,
slightly sexist
i know people are not possessions
but in a non religious way
this is my truest confession
you are and always be my baby
and the romantic in me
which ignores sexist statements
and the place society expects
our gender roles to be
it says you are my love
and you always will be to me
you are and always be my girl
i think today,
in a changeable society,
where the walls have come down,
changed, rearranged, or even,
replastered
if I can, I push them to one side
and say you are what matters
you are my one and true love
and in a world where there are
billions of possibilities
and when we demand a solution
from just living in one reality
right now in this place
i know there could be another way
but I just see your face
you are and always have been,
my girl
and last night when we stood
watching the funny man sing
i felt a feeling that never ever goes
and when we caught the train home
as it sped through the night
under wires and electric moonlight
when you fell asleep on me
when you lent on me and cuddled up
and we found each others hands
i thought about societal constraints
that I barely I understand
like theories on love and ones about
a revolving evolving world
you are and you will always be mine
always will be my beautiful baby girl
now I do not want to own you
and I understand you are an independent
woman with a fiery mind of their own
but I have tripped and then I fell
trying to find stars in the sky for you
you are my love, my baby girl
and you always will be, I love you
do not get me wrong,
this poem is not trying to call you home
i cannot change your mind or you
but let me put logic on this whirl
even if that is something that escapes us
you are and you always will be my baby girl
