We Get the Society we Tolerate

we get the society we tolerate
no matter how much
we might protest

this is what we get
through sheer acceptance
no, we can not spend our days
tearing down walls
and taking to our streets

the mechanics of life
and the institutions of the state
put so much in our path,
state run factories
which produce so much of our fate

but this tolerance
of things as they go by
this is the society we get
no choice is still a choice
and that is why,
we get the society we tolerate
