Mountains and Rivers

the sadness
stems
not from not being together
but
because I am not convinced
they will ever let themselves
love someone
make that leap of faith
too scared
because the heart may break
i know
inside that she loves me
but it will never be enough
so someday I will let it go
and i dread that day
i fear the moment
that it swims away
but
tell me, what can I do?
this feeling does not dim
it creates mountains and rivers
and I do not know where it begins
i am left to stand and shiver
i will never win
happiness not delivered
