How Could I Forget
how could i forget,
balancing on the edge of the bed
i heard the hum of a distant plane
i heard something inside my head
i wished i was all alone
in the vaults where lore is written
on tablets of stone
but i was born into this time
i have come this far
leaving the rest behind
i cannot carry the past like an old suitcase
i cannot cope with the worry lines
seeping across my face
how could i forget,
what i had been told
what i had learned
it cost me alot
my fingers are still burnt
and my mind is still shot
but that is the price you pay
you dangle by your fingertips on a ledge
with an endless drop,
just to learn a little knowledge
