Any Shape or Any Possible Bend

people it seems
just want an escalator
to reach their dreams
reassuring hug
that their life trauma
did not come with a self inflicting thud
they all join in
when one person starts
tearing their past,
apart
i witness alarming trends
as people force their life experience
into any shape or any kind of bend
so it suits other narratives
and with it, they can even make friends
maybe,
i am cynical in that i presume
is now called my middle age
maybe as an avid reader
i need a better story on each and every page
maybe the bitterness
swims around my coffee cups
but i see in the faces,
they look set to drown in their own town
people it seems
want to be shackle free
shoulder ache i guess
when it comes to actual responsibility
