i have learned
it is,
how i respond
i spent,
a good few years
addicted
to the idea of tears
living day to day
with a kind of fear
wondering who,
would add lyrics
to a life
that felt instrumental
fearing for my health,
was i, ‘mental’
but it was those human responses
it was not an animal instinct
but trauma
not so much fauna
responses,
define us
and creatively find us
it mines us,
digging deep into something about us
