When I was Buying Second Hand 1970’s Coats

if i could
have had some of the skills
i have now,
back then,
when in the mid 1990’s
i was buying
second hand
1970’s coats
and days
when i dreamt of a float
i am still,
trying to find
and clarify the talent
they said i had
all those years ago
i have spent my life
trying to define it
to find it,
to use it
but i have, only now
started to find
some of the confidence
they stamped upon
all those years ago
