i was listening to our song today
it will always be us
it’s beauty
may not be a substitute 
for our raw clumsiness 
that we seem to express
in this, our personal mess
but I was listening
and I thought about last night
when someone said to me
you obviously love her to bits
and ‘bits’ seemed too true
but joking aside
that is how I feel about you
i was listening to our song today
it will always be us
its beauty is real and fair
because nothing comes close
to saying how I really feel
