Looking After You
i try to look after you
albeit from a distance
but I am there
you know I care
trying to be your ‘life coach’
even when mine
has often turned out strange
endless drains
and the strangest games
giving the marbles back
i try to look after you
i try to say
look at the mistakes I have made
do not let the men
who are just boys
treat your emotions and feelings
like brand new toys
putting them back in the box
with all the disdainĀ
of Christmas given socks
you deserve much less pain
