Silverback
no one really knows the hurt
that goes on inside
society expects no reaction
are we meant to hide?
is this too negative?
is it not pretending enough?
and when you broke down
did you crave the human touch?
did you think –
life has been too tough?
am i meant to be a ‘man’
am I meant to play rough
how much should a ‘man’ give
and is what we give, too much?
shall I drink beer?
shall I be your silverback?
shall I swing from the trees?
where football scarves seem to hang
oh, please…
no one knows the hurtÂ
and how it can pull you to your knees
