Piece of Rope

give me a chance and some hope
not a piece of rope –
for me to put around my neck
that hangs me –
quicker than i suspect
that leaves me swinging
as opposed to the usual way –
of clinging

give me a chance and some hope
before my good times go
and we are barely able to cope
give us a chance and some hope
before we set fire to ourselves
and we are lost in the smoke
or left with nothing at all
except a piece of rope
and faces like waterfalls
