Crushing Defeat
i do not know
if you know –
what crushing defeat –
does to a boy
especially one –
who is trying to be a, ‘man’
in a land –
where a man can be on trial
for the hurt held in their hands
crushing defeat –
sneaks into your house
first, it takes your feet
then, when you are beat
it throws its daggers
and when –
you are down and haggard
you end up drunk
and kind of staggered
i do not know
if you know –
what it feels like –
to know that you are –
always somehow in the wrong
