Rejection – Written Sunday 27th November 2005 (Aged 30)

Rejection

it’s sad,
but i suspect that they’ve been rejected all their life
and it has become an ever-present fear
a kind of unwelcome host
a demon that now they fear the most
and i suspect that because this fear rules them
then it is always bound to become true
out on the ocean, out on a stormy trip
ruled by a fear of rejection
and the knowledge that fear always steers that ship
it’s sad that on this occasion it has come true again
they seem like a sucker for an ill wind
and it always the huntsman’s choice
i suspect that they’ve been rejected all their life
this self-fulfilling prophecy dictates their world
and the colour of their night
a life with no reason sits on the blade of a knife
it is sad
but i suspect that they’ve been rejected all their life
