Working it Out – Written October 2001 (Aged 26)

Working it Out

you look at me
as if i am the one –
who has to be figured out
but, i am looking at you
trying to work you out
you think you are different
but really,
you are very ordinary
you would like to be unique
but you are too scared –
you would lose friends
and your security is bleak
so you just pretend
dying your hair
and piercing your body
it does not change who you are
and you are not a somebody
just because of your car
you look at me
as if you are in and i am out
but who needs to be figured out?

James Garratt – October 2001
