More Than Numbers and Figures
i am my work number
my file number
i am my national insurance number
my tax code
my annual salary
the hours i work
the time spent
the time measured
i am the value of my property
all just a set of meaningless figures
only disguising my true identity
i am my height
my weight
am i too fat and should i be thin
i am judged on my years
not where i begin
i am a collective
of all these meaningless figures
none of which have feelings
forget about these numbers
and remember i am a human being
remember the true person
that society tries to disguise
with those identity stealing figures
none of which ever add up
i am more than a set of figures and numbers
i am a human being
