They Grew Up

they grew up
one too many tantrums
dragged up by themselves
all of the time
wanting to be somebody else
and haven’t they grown up quick?
suddenly they aren’t as they were
they have changed so much
now is just the future in waiting
all the screaming and shouting
all the slammed doors
they grew up the hard way
they stamped their feet
now they are acting strange
as if none of it happened
they had always been the same
but change came, they grew up
