Let’s Talk to Younger Self

let’s talk to younger self
the one,
way back there
whos sarcasm
and humour
showed there was a chasm
between the funny bone and the femur

let’s talk to younger self
the one you thought you had left in the past
those days
which did not last
the days that melted away
the fads and fashions
the loves and the passions

i would tell my younger self
to be calm, to be collected, it will be fine
and that the heights of life do not begin
the time you order expensive wine
though at the time,
it felt they did

only younger self would have never known
how the world has changed
how we have aged
even though some of us melted away
the fads and fashions of a bygone age
i remain here,
offering advice,
thinking about my younger self
