Touchdown

had my weekend away
touchdown – London Gatwick
november weather here to stay
really will catch me,
at the luggage carousel
and the passport gates
funny how,
it can never really wait
a long weekend in Romania
with a close friend
how i miss them,
and how i miss the talking
going out and getting lost
in the comfort of our company
university beckons,
and all those assignments
and the flat does not look after itself
i am the head of the department
still, had my weekend away
and how good it was
and we have just passed
over the Dutch coast,
the familiarity of England beckons
a familiarity that is warm, like toast
