I Was Him Once

poor boy
how we are all defined
as normal
and abnormal
by people who rarely reflect
on their own values and judgement’s
just assuming
they must be correct
and that they, above all others
should have complete respect

poor boy
i was him once
once i was not
part of the set up
and my hope had no get up
my interests deemed strange
my, how i felt isolated
it is only the awkwardness that prevails
when we are isolated
and it is those others who fail
