i had to grow up
in ways
i never expected
wisdom
not enough
you need a social touch
a societal vocabulary

i had to mend
the lines of
my telegraph poles
the hardest to climb

i had to grow up
in ways
that i could never know
in ways
that never make sense

syllables,
are the vital difference
i had to bend
in ways
that never truly end
wrote letters
that i never got to send

i had to grow up
in ways
i never expected
